Bentley Continental SUPERSPORTS

The Continental Supersports is the fastest and most powerful Bentley ever. It is the extreme Bentley, a muscular two-seater that delivers supercar performance and a highly focused driving experience. The Supersports is also the first Bentley capable of running on both petrol (gasoline) and bio fuel, pioneering the use of FlexFuel technology in the luxury sector. This represents stage one of the company’s commitment to make its complete model range compatible with renewable fuels by 2012.

Available worldwide from autumn 2009, the Continental Supersports will be FlexFuel compatible in the majority of markets from launch with North American cars offering the capability by summer 2010, following regulatory approval. The Continental Supersports began as an ‘under the radar’ project exploring the possibilities of weight reduction on the Continental GT but with more power and torque. A largely experimental process crystallized over a period of 24 months into an official new car programme, driven by the passion and enthusiasm of a small group of Bentley engineers and designers.

The results are dramatic. With 630PS (621 bhp) and new ‘Quickshift’ transmission that halves shift times, the Supersports sets new performance benchmarks for Bentley. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds) onto a top speed of 204 mph (329 km/h). Supercar performance is complemented by an array of chassis enhancements including retuned steering and suspension, utilizing lighter weight components, retuned dampers and anti-roll bars. Agility is further sharpened by the 40:60 rear-biased torque split for the all-wheel drive system, a wider rear track, bespoke lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels and a unique electronic stability programme.

Rolls-Royce RR4

The RR4 is due to be launched in 2010 and will be part of the Phantom model line-up. The RR4 will be smaller than Phantom and powered by a new engine, unique to Rolls-Royce.

The design was signed off in 2007 and engineering development is now fully underway. The Goodwood manufacturing facilities are being completely reconfigured to accommodate the RR4, with extended paint, wood and leather shops as well as a second assembly line. The company will move to a two shift system next year as it gears up for full production of the new model.

Chief designer, Ian Cameron, said, “Effortless performance and standard-setting levels of comfort and efficiency, executed with the utmost care and attention, remain fundamentals of Rolls-Royce design. The RR4 has a more informal presence than the Phantom models with a greater emphasis on driving. In design terms this is expressed through its slightly smaller dimensions and more organic form, yet with powerful, purposeful proportions. It is a true and uncompromising Rolls-Royce in every sense.”

2010 GLK GiveAways

This winter was a busy time for the promotion of the 2010 GLK! And EuroMotorcars was a central player in those promotions.

The Washington Auto Show WinnerDavid Fortuna won the GLK350 from the 2009 Washington Auto Show in February. The GLK350 was sponsored by the local Washington Area Mercedes-Benz Dealers and was delivered to Mr. Fortuna by our Bethesda salesman, James Griffith. Mr. Fortuna is a Medical Social Worker and Professional Social Work Field Instructor.

The 2009 smart fortwo

The 2009 smart fortwo began production this fall! The new 2009 models will introduce two new colors to make your smart fortwo even more exciting. The smart fortwo will still convey the innovation, functionality and joy of life that defines each and every smart fortwo.
For the exterior, the 2009 smart fortwo will introduce two new colors - a sporty and intense "rally red", and a cool and elegant "gray metallic". These two colors will replace the 2008 "light yellow" and "red metallic" colors, though the discontinued colors will still be available through your local smart center as replacement panels or full body panel freshup kits.
On the interior of the vehicle, new door nets will replace the solid storage areas on the driver and passenger doors. The flexible door nets will offer a bigger and more functional storage area for you and your passenger. Finally, the LCD display of instrument cluster will now including a Loose Gas Cap Indicator light to warn the driver when the fuel tank cap is not fully closed.

The American environmental authority EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has put the smart fortwo at the top of its current list of the most economical cars without hybrid drive. The US authority confirms independent European studies that had already established the clever two-seater as the most economical car. Please click here to see their report.

During the past few weeks, you may have noticed some construction going on at EuroMotorcars Bethesda. Construction will soon be coming to our Germantown location as well.

EuroMotorcars is upgrading our Mercedes-Benz stores to the state-of-the-art "AutoHaus" format and we are the first in the metro Washington, DC area to do so! In addition to the new look that our stores will receive to be AutoHaus compliant, our technicans have all received brand new toolboxes!

Continental GT Speed

Bentley Motors is extending the Continental Series with the powerful addition of the Continental GT Speed. This magnificent vehicle will be even more breathtaking with more performance and handling in even less time.

The Continental GT Speed will be the most powerful Bentley ever and will top 200 mph, the first ever. It boasts tauter handling and sharper steering response as well as increased agility and body control.

Arnage Final Series

A glorious era is coming to a close with the production of the magnificent and elegant Arnage Final Series.

This series will be handbuilt at Crewe starting in January of next year and Bentley has limited production to only 150 cars worldwide, dedicating 38 of those cars to the US. And we are proud to have requested the last of these fine vehicles for EuroMotorcars Bethesda, making this last vehicle the absolute must in any collector's edition.

We expect to have this vehicle in our showroom next summer and have requested it to be outfitted with the utmost in Bentley elegance and extravagance. The exterior will be Anthracite Grey and the interior a smooth Cognac. This vehicle will also have Final Series badging, a cocktail cabinet with a stainless steel flask with a B closure as well as two sleek shot glasses and corresponding funnel. The exterior will have dark tint upper and lower grilles along with many other fine details.

A Generosity of Spirit

A Message from Our President

Our customers know that EuroMotorcars Bethesda and EuroMotorcars Germantown are much more than cars, units, service hours and sales figures. You know this from our dedication to the annual Toys for Tots drive that we participate in year after year and the continuous corporate donations to various school events and fundraisers. And as the Christmas season nears, it reminds us to be kinder of heart, gentler and more generous towards our fellow man and woman. But that ideal should ring true for the whole of the year, not just a season. And this generosity of spirit does ring true throughout the year at EuroMotorcars.

On October 13, 2008, as some of you may know, Chris Amoss, a long time parts advisor, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at the early age of 32 due to sleep apnea. Chris was a true friend to all at EuroMotorcars, quick with a smile, a joke and a tendency towards loud music. He worked for us for many years. His passing showed the true spirit of generosity and care of EuroMotorcars towards the family he left behind. The donations and care of his loved ones began early with a small contribution of no more than $200 from a employee and grew quickly without any corporate organization.

Yet as the contributions grew, we organized a method in order to collect the contributions for his family. And as they grew, management was encouraged and upped the ante, tripling all employee contributions with company contributions to the Amoss Family Trust fund. The employee contributions were given by all types of employees, some barely even knew him, others were best friends, and even outside vendors that Chris worked with. Some employees came with tears in their eyes with their donation and left quickly, saying only a few, necessary words. Others wanted to do more and many even tapped into their vacation days in order to be able to give to someone in need. We hope that Chris's family, his wife and two young daughters, will be heartened and encouraged by the care and love that these contributions show. And we hope that they know that he will not be forgotten at a place that was much more than work to him.

This tragic event highlights the goodness and spirit of the people who work at EuroMotorcars even in light of life's darkest moments. No one asked or demanded that others give to his loved ones or care about others in need, yet they did. And we hope that you can see that above and beyond the beautiful cars, Mercedes-Benz, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Maybach and smart, there are people here who care for one another and celebrate the generosity of spirit even out of season, without Santa, reindeer and all the trimmings. In closing, we wish you and yours a very happy holiday season and hope that we can all celebrate kindness and generosity to others throughout the year.
